It's Wednesday!

So, since school started I, of course, have been busy. I did make a cake for my boyfriend's birthday, a non-laborious xkcd cake that was good, but a bit dry :P Baker's club has yet to start up, and I don't have any pictures to share. At the moment, just easing my way into school. I promise spectacular things to come though, as I have a Miyazaki themed cake coming soon!

Well, that could have been better...

Just got back from my first catering experience, less than thrilled with the results. Lots of left-overs and "Ew the icing's all gross, scrape it off!" Which, no it was not "gross" it was made of cream cheese, no it's not "melted" it's just not fancily iced like the store bought plastic many of you third graders are unfortunately accustomed to, and yes it's "supposed" to be purple. *sigh* not feeling my best at the moment, I feel like I need another job just to prove I can do better...

Making Promises I can and can't keep

SO once again I will not be able to update on Wednesday, as I'm leaving for camp. However, dispite my ridiculous travel schedual, I'm booked to cater a tea party for a friend soon! Updates and pictures when it happens, as well as an upcoming entry for Threadcakes and a Tardis cake (phonebooth for those not Dr. Who savvy).

In my defense, I thought yesterday was Tuesday

Anyway, for my weekly post I'd like to advertise for the WHS Baker's Club event for the Great American Bake Sale! It will be held on Washington High School's campus August 5, during the class of 13 car wash. Please support ending child hunger!

since I have turned into a lazy person and leave months and months between posts, regaurdless of whether or not I've done anything, I solemly swear from this day forward I shall post once a week whether I have anything to say or not and the day of the posting shall be Wednesday! So prepare your blather filters, but I promise, it will be about cake. :)

Contemplating the Future

So, after entering two cakes in the Alameda County fair and winning first place, best in class, and best in show, I've been thinking. Just a few days after winning, I got an offer to make teacup cupcakes for a tea party. Should I start my own business? And if so, what should I call it?

So, while all my friends were showered with electronics on Christmas, I was given an airbrush and food safe dyes. This was my first opportunity to use it, and what a strange one it was, The Flying Spaghetti Monster. (I'd like to say that the subject of this cake does in no way represent my spiritual views) Nevertheless, I am proud of the way it turned out. Who knew you could make fondant spaghetti in a meat grinder?
